Best place on the Chesepeake for a DCer?July 8, 2009 @ 10:04am
Hi. We are in the process of buying a 19 foot trophy. We live in DC so want to keep it in a place close enough to DC, but also where we can get out on the bay easily. We have been looking at Deale, West River, and South River. Any thoughts on these? We want to be able to fish and cruise pretty easily, but also want to be able to get to a good river to play when the bay is too choppy. We realize our boat is not that big for the bay. Any thoughts you have on good locations are appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Anyone still aroundApril 8, 2008 @ 12:30am
I hope people are still using this forum. I have been so busy with work over the last couple of months, that I can not keep up with this site. I am going to start advertising so we can get more people on here.
Please spread the word! I think this is a site worth keeping alive.

I am thinking of starting a group podcast. Covering news, events, possibly interviews, and so on... Any interest?

I think this would also be a good way to spread the word about the group and get more members.

Welcome to the groupNovember 6, 2007 @ 2:34pm
Thanks for joining!

Glad to hear you are getting back into boating and will be on the Chessy with the rest of us.

As for starter boats. The 25 to 30 ft range would be fine. But you will find that your level of comfort will grow quickly and you will be wanting something bigger sooner than you thought.
I suggest that you go with the 32 to 40 foot range. You have your own dock so there shouldnt be a big concern with navagating around other peoples boats in a crowded marina. You will get the hang of things quickly.
If you need any help just ask in the fourms or you can email me directly.

Welcome to the groupNovember 6, 2007 @ 12:42pm
Thanks for joining the group! 60 or so beers a weekend is perfectly fine.

I am working on advertising the group on Google and Yahoo. Also I am making new flyers up for members to post at there marinas and clubs. By spring we should have a nice sized group.

Hello, my name is Steve and i'm an alcoholic....November 5, 2007 @ 7:15pm
...well, not really tho my wife thinks i am on the weekends.Smile
Hello to whoever reads this, would be nice to get some of the crew we've been hanging out with on the weekends in Frog Mortar to get this site popular. Me and Donna own a 33 foot Rinker named "Brothers 2" and we keep it in Marley Creek.
Personally, i don't think 60 or 70 beers a weekend is too much...

Well, the first thing i would suggest is to let someone that is new to this site use one of your lifts for free and they can give you all the advise you want when they go boating from your dock.Embarrassed

Getting back into boating after many many years.Never knew much anyway so taking the route of a beginner. Just bought house in Royal Oak looking over the Choptank and directly out to the Bay. Looking to buy my first boat. Early advice suggests 25-30 ft since I will be inclined to explore the calm water first and then the Bay. House came with dock and 5 lifts from 1000lbs to 10000lbs--views are great but water can get choppy when the wind blows from the West.
All suggestions welcomed.
